Here at TRK Helicopters, we are now operating our new 2010 Eurocopter AS355 NP. We would like to share some of the improvements of this aircraft. Powered by two Turbomeca Arrius 1A1 engines of 556 shp each, it relies on the FADEC (Full Authority Digital Engine Control) for engine control and monitoring. The AS355 NP is now characterized by the integration of the well-known VEMD (Vehicle and Engine Multifunction Display), which reduces pilot workload. In the event of an engine failure during flight, the maximum emergency power is automatically and instantaneously provided to the operating engine, enabling the pilot to concentrate on the external environment while the FADEC manages the engines. The AS355 NP also offers the most redundant digital engine control with back-up governing, overspeed protection and in-flight restarting systems.

And thus, has the category A equivalence as per JAR-OPS 3.480, which is mandatory for operations in Performance Class 1 and 2.
With the best in class performance, the AS355 NP is able to operate in Category A, at Maximum Gross Weight in various climatic conditions. That represents transporting 4 passengers on a typical distance of 450km with 30 minutes of fuel reserve in ISA (International Standard Atmosphere), sea level conditions, thus one passenger more than the AS355 N. Therefore the AS355 NP permits transport of one more additional person or an additional 30 minutes of fuel compared to the AS355 N.
The AS355 NP provides excellent OEI (One Engine Inoperative) performance. It is capable of taking off at its maximum gross take off weight on one engine up to 25 degrees Celcius at sea level. This offers the pilot and crew the greatest safety margin.
The AS355 NP's upgraded main gear box can transport an additional external hook load of 440lbs compared to the AS355 N in ISA, sea level conditions.
Our AS355 NP has been equipped with two engine fire-extinguishing systems, allowing the pilot to effectively react in the even of an engine fire. Additionally, engine intake air filters have been fitted to protect from foreign object damage. Energy absorbing seats have been installed, which are compliant with FAR 27 Amendment 25 crash impact conditions.
Compared to its predecessor the AS355 N, our AS355 NP is ideal for the most demanding utility operations, and has the latest in aviation saftey technology to ensure the safest means of passenger transportation available in rotary aviation today.
